about interactive media space

interactive media space is a media-rich webspace showcasing and reflecting on developments in new, interactive, digital media, run collectively by staff and students in interactive media in the School of Social Sciences, Media and Cultural Studies at the University of East London (UEL). At present the webspace is in its infancy, but it will grow to showcase the range of interactive media in which we are engaged.

Our School is home to a wide range of activity and expertise in interactive media, including: computer games design and story development; digital arts and sound design; cybercultures and cybernetic theory; virtual environments design; multimedia accessibility and inclusion. This covers study at foundation, undergraduate, MA and PhD level, as well as research into many areas of new media theory, practice and debate.

Our staff have experience in interactive media production in a range of settings - commercial, independent, artistic and community-based. Our emphasis is on critical practice, on developing practical skills and thinking critically about new media development, being experimental and pushing the boundaries of current practice. The depth and breadth of our new media activity makes UEL an excellent place to experience interactive media in all its diversity.
